This is one of the oldest BE expressions known to man. We used this
when we were still swinging through the trees. I don't see a date for
the first cite below, but I wouldn't be surprised to discover that
Satchmo used this expression when he was a pre-teen. I certainly was a
pre-teen when I first heard it in St. Louis, ca.1945.
