Barry's message: .. My book is published

Thanks for the clarification. If Barry didn't get due credit in the book, that really is depressing. In fact, it's mind boggling. I've published numerous food-items of Barry's in my _Comments on Etymology_, and he has shared a mass of other such material with ads-l. Barry is without doubt the foremost expert on culinary terms, and any book on this subject which doesn't make full use of his expertise (+ due credit) is by that very fact a less than excellent work.

And this book has "Oxford" in its title?

I'm working at all delilberate speed to publish Barry's material--first as working papers in _Comments on Etymology_ and then as formal publications. But even as working papers Barry's items contain a wealth of information and in fact are often not far removed from being in final form.

I see another project emerging: A compilation of Barry's articles thus far on culinary terms in book form. I have no control over what comes out of the Oxford Press, but I do have control over what appears in the books I edit. Barry's work is extraordinary, and I am deeply honored to play a role in bringing that point to the attention of the scholarly and journalistic communities.
