Primarily northwestern North Carolina (Boone, Lenoir, Grandfather Mountain area) and western Virginia (Castlewood district).  Possibly Kentucky.  That's on my maternal side.  All I know of my father's side is he was born in Colorado, raised in Missouri and his father had no discernible "accent" compared to Mom's family.  He sounded like the rest of us nasally westerners in Los Angeles, although I sounded like Virginia until I got into school and they trained it out of me.  Still fall back into it if I'm around folks from there.  Well.  More than you asked, LOL.
