new language in Nicaragua

Right now on NPR's All Things Considered is an interesting story on the birth
of a (signed) language among deaf children in Nicaragua.  I missed who the
linguist who studied this is, but she's explaining the difference between
gesturing-to-communicate and language.  Apparently this study was published
in Science.  Some info is at
