"Vatican City"; was Re: "The" Philippines

"Vatican City" is the only form I've ever encountered - that and "The Vatican."

"The Vatican City" may make perfect sense, but it's certainly not the general form.

As a follow-up to this discussion, I just heard "in Vatican City" on
CNN's coverage of the events there, rather than "in the Vatican
City", which is what I would expect.
