When we were kids, my mother (a writer) was amused and flattered at how my
sister was always "quoting" from the current book-in-progress.  I hadn't
seen the word spelled, and given the way my mother pronounced the vowel, I
listened very carefully but couldn't be quite sure whether she was saying
"quoting" or "quolting."
