If there was a standard for BE, the following would not be eggcorns but
standard usage:
"dash[-h]oun" dachshund
"evry since" ever since
"work like a champ/champion" work like a charm
In fact, I myself use both "work like a champ/champion" and "work like
a charm." Until I read the eggcorn list, it had never occurred to me
that there was any historical connection between these two phrases. For
me, there is a semantic
split: only an inanimate object can "work like a charm"; anyone or
anything can "work like a champ/champion." FWIW,
my personal preference is for "work like a champion."
