Toxic gumbo

Here in south Louisiana, I've never heard the term "gumbo" refer to
thick mud. However, we use "bocco" to refer to a particularly dark mud.
"Gumbo" generally connotes a blending of constituents, whether animate
(sociological; i.e., "gumbo ya ya") or inanimate (chemicals; i.e.,
"toxic gumbo").
"Toxic gumbo" is -- and has been -- prevalent in oil spills,
derailments, truck accidents, and any other incident that involve
cleanup by HazMat personnel and equipment.
