Bethany,
As any US map will show you, there is an Upper Peninsula and a Lower
Peninsula which make up the State of MI; many years ago a spectacular
bridge was built to connect the two. Now those of us who live "below
the bridge" are called trolls.
Yooper - resident of the Upper Peninsula (i.e., UP, therefore "yooper") - humor
