a NYT Science Times, 1/18/05, p. D3, article about performing autopsies
on whales refers to David W. Grunden, one of the volunteers in such an
undertaking on Martha's Vineyard, by his job title: "a shellfish
constable and herring warden in the Martha's Vineyard town of Oak
Bluffs".
a perfectly serious and important job, i understand. still, an
admirable job title.
