I have nothing to add as far as the etymology. DARE and OED cite from Jet
in 1967....."Eartha..is considered 'seditty' by many Negroes."

The DARE entry also lists the spellings as "saddity, sadiddy, saditty,
seditty, siddity." Etymology unknown.

I'm just wondering if Wilson has anything to contribute, given his age and
experience.

Well, I'm not Wilson, but for what it's worth, you can hear Shemekia
Copeland use this term in this manner in a swamp-bluesy song called "Miss Hy
Ciditty" on her "Wicked" album (Alligator Records; released September 2000),

I see now that 50 Cent uses "high saditty" in his "Get Out the Club" (from
"Guess Who's Back"; Full Cup Records; released May 2002),

(Whether "ciditty" and "saditty" and others stem from "society" and whether
coupling "high" with this term is merely recent, I've no clue.)
