speed or rate of change

I'm trying to find a message I saw on the list sometimes in the past few weeks, but didn't save. Someone was lamenting his inability to accept the way language changes. Or saying that he didn't want to accept  changes, even though he knew he should. I couldn't find it in the archive. Does anyone remember this?
