FWIW, here's an example of how it looks - or, perhaps, used to look -
from the other side of the chasm. At the Jesuit prep school that I
attended in the early '50's, the religious (as opposed to lay) faculty
used these three terms to refer to what others think of as the
"(Roman) Catholic Church" or the "Church of Rome":
a) The One True Faith
b) The Church of Christ
c) The Christian Church
My own preference is for "The One True Faith," though I primarily use
this term ironically, when in the presence of those not of The One
True Faith. Of course, I use "Catholic" when I'm filling out/filling
in forms, or simply "Yes," in answer to a question, such as "Brother,
have you been saved?" or "Brother, have you accepted the Lord Jesus
Christ as your savior?" Mormons are a bit more of a problem, since I
doubt that there is anyone who is more pleasant than a Mormon
missionary.
