Toyota ad seen on tv today (at the end of the summer): "As the hot
days of summer come to pass,..."

the intended meaning is clearly something like 'as the hot days of
summer come to an end, as they pass away', but the meaning i get is
'as the hot days of summer come to be realized, as they begin'. i'm
pretty sure my meaning is the older one, but has this newer meaning
been tracked? (it's easy to see where it came from, of course.)
