Well, I never wrote it down, so I have been trying to figure out how to
spell it! "It" was a double passenger car seat that my sister and I
somehow acquired to use as a toy. We made up games that involved revolving
with it on various surfaces. We called it a ['zum-boyng] - spelled
zoom-boing, I suppose. Or maybe zoom-boyng. We were farm kids newly
transplanted to a small city (Beaumont, TX). The word came, I think, from
the sound we thought the seat springs made when we revolved with it. We're
talking fall/spring 1947/48.
