Barry, it would help if you actually checked the page images before
posting. The 1940 and 1952 results are actually false hits (in both
cases "mis-" at a line break, followed by some text that missed the
OCR, followed by "underestimated"). The 1966 hit is good, though:

1966 _Independent Star-News_ (Pasadena, Cal.) 11 Dec. 10/1 At any
rate, don't mis~underestimate the persuasive qualities of the things
that imply much more than they say.
