I said *today,* Mark. Not nearly one half *century* ago ! (And JFK was born way back in 1917.)
Seriously, I'd expect that vast numbers of Gen-Xers and beyond (and even plenty of Boomers) assume that "Jack" was just a family nickname that has no connection with "John." Cf. my previous post about "Marla" and "Mickey," which, by way of contrast, have nothing to do with each other.
