New York Governor George Pataki has appendicitis. That hasn't stopped the
running of his commercials for the program "Healthy New York," however.
"Appendicitis" is slightly earlier in a paper presentation described in the
(OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY)

THE INFALMMATORY DIEASES OF THE APPENDIX CAECI,
which consisted of a very full and accurate analysis of a great number of
cases of perforating appendicitis; a disease which, he said, is most apt to
affect healthy adult males.
DR. FITZ, in concluding the discussion, said that incipient appendicitis was
so obscure that he had only begun his consideration of the subject with
