The revised OED entry for "batty" dates "batty-man" or "bati-man"
(Caribbean epithet for a homosexual man) to 1967, and "batty" as used
in other compounds (e.g. "batty boy") to 1992. Here's a usage of
"batty bredda" from Vivien Goldman's 1976 series on Jamaica for
_Sounds_.
1976 _Sounds_ 23 Oct. (Rock's Backpages) Homosexuals are called 'batty
breddas' in Jamaica.
