Sifting through email that'd piled up during Spring Break, i ran across
the following from one of WashingtonPost.com's columnist chat sessions
(Steven Pearlstein, 14 March 2006), from a questioner:

Given that it was a chat on economic topics (particularly income
inequality), the replacement of "guilded" for "gilded" makes sense to me.
