On NPR 3/30/06: In a story about the liability for reparation to victims
of clerical abuse in various US dioceses, the word "dioceses" was
repeatedly pronounced "diosees" (as if it had been blended with "see").
I'm not sure that diocese and see are equivalent, but I doubt if that was
what was intended.
On another note, a pitch for the NPR website had ...."to find out about the
movies you hear on NPR"........ [wanting to get double duty out of that one
"about."]
