Fake Latin plural . . .

Yesterday on the local NPR station I heard a speaker
say "various bodily orifi" /-faI/.
Perhaps what made that innovation sound especially
improbable to me is that I have /I/ or (more likely) "barred
I" in the final syllable of "orifice," not /@/.
