english, the official national language

I seem to remember that this matter was settled many years ago when the
army or some other undoubted authority chose the dialect of that St. Louis
native, Vincent Price (!) , to represent on language records for teaching
purposes, the  true standard American English tongue.  I'd love to hear W's
rendition of that dialect (more an idiolect, I'd have thought).  (Or do I
mean isolect?)
