And speaking of back formations like "trait" < "traitor":
the noun "mentee" ('student who has a mentor') seems now
thoroughly ensconced in academic jargon.  It presupposes a
verb "ment" as the root of the noun "mentor"--even though
the verb actually used (in academic parlance) is "mentor."
