I=-3.  Fred, you once mentioned that you had submitted an 1800 cite to
the OED, though it wasn't clear whether this was unemployment in the
forced idleness sense.

unemployment (OED 1888)

1875 _Inter Ocean_ 24 Sept. 3/6 (19th Century U.S. Periodicals)  Loss
would follow; hence the locking up of money and the unemployment of
labor and consequent distress among the laboring classes.
