Antedatings in the Yale Book of Quotations - 1: Garbage In Garbage Out

Because I did not want to get scooped by other quotation dictionaries
before my book came out, I have refrained from posting a fair number of
notable quotation-related antedatings on this list.  (This fear on my part
was not just paranoia -- Ralph Keyes's recent book, The Quote Verifier,
drew heavily on postings I have made to ADS-L and Stumpers).  Now,
happily, I can start to post this backlog of notable antedatings.

garbage in garbage out (OED 1964, Popik 1961)

1959 _Business Quarterly_ Winter 213 ff. (ABI/Inform)  As one
consultant puts it, "Garbage in, Garbage
out."
