"aphorism" = ?

Let's see, now. What word can I pull out of my ass to make this
bullshit seem academic? Oh, WTF, I'll just toss in "aphorism." That
"ap" is probably from Greek _apo_, "from" and that "hor" probably has
something to with seeing. You know, like the _(h)or_ in "panorama."
Thus, it must mean something like "reflection" or "similarity." It'll
do.
