Asimov Quote?

Thanks to Barbara and Ben for their very quick replies.

When I came up empty-handed in my own searches, it occurred to me that this
may well be, as Ben suggests, apocryphal and of fairly recent origin.

How about this, then:  might this be someone's clumsy paraphrasing of a
larger observation made by Asimov?
