preadolescent "tortures"

"Demonstrated," you say, Joel? I'd think that the operative verb would
be "ascertained." Me myself, "I lke a girl with a big butt," as
Garrett Morris once succinctly expressed it during an SNL skit.
I remember the Indian burn, keep-away, and (k)nucks, but not the other
games. How about pop-the-whip? That sometimes hurt three boys or more
at the same time.

Everybody says, "How hard it is that we have to die"---a strange
complaint to come from the mouths of people who have had to live.

Whoever has lived long enough to find out what life is knows how deep
a debt of gratitude we owe to Adam, the first great benefactor of our
race. He brought death into the world.
