When asked where I went to college (not a frequent question), I always say
New Haven. That is at least partly obfuscation. In a small town filled with
Penn State flags on Saturdays, attendance at an elite Ivy is hardly a plus.
Besides, to my ear the monosyllabic Yale lands with a thud. (As further
cover, I have a Nittaney Lion shrine in my back yard.)
