Readex Enhances Web-Based America's Historical Newspapers Collection
with Integrated Interface

Readex announced today a new interface that enables cross-search of
Early American Newspapers, Series I, II and III, 1690-1922. These three
series in Readex's Web-based America's Historical Newspapers collection
offer digital facsimiles of more than 500,000 complete issues from over
1,000 historical American newspapers. Published in all 50 present states
across four centuries, the titles in this collection comprise more than
five million fully searchable pages.

Digitized primarily from the extensive historical newspaper holdings of
the American Antiquarian Society (AAS), the Wisconsin Historical Society
and the Library of Congress, America's Historical Newspapers now
provides a simpler, more intuitive search screen and other new features
designed to make searching easier and more productive for both novice
and experienced users.

The new, integrated interface provides a clickable map of the United
States to help limit searches by state and region; pre-configured
options for "Presidential Eras" and "Eras in American History" that
limit searches by timeframe and snippets - or targeted previews - of
articles within search results to help users understand context and save
time.

New series of historical U.S. newspapers to be announced by Readex this
year will provide hundreds more titles, including African American,
Native American and women's newspapers.
