Trademarks Lexis and Lexus (was nexis is baffling)

 Speaking of "Lexus".....what is it supposed to mean, if anything? Neither
law nor reading seems to suggest anything (mechanically) automotive to me.
For that matter, I've never known what the "LX" on my '95 Escort
represents.....Luxury? (As cars go, it seems fairly minimalist in what
might be called luxury features)  60? (in Rom num)  If so, 60 what?
