Counting only to two

I apologize for having been so ethnocentric. But it *was* the case
that the story, as I first heard it, was that the killings had begun
with the murder of a _white woman_. Whenever a white woman is raped
and/or killed, all of Black America reflexively tenses till the word
comes down that the known or suspected doer is not a "buck negro."
(For those unfamiliar with the reference, these exists a racist screed
with the title, "The Buck Negro." It's part of an encylopedia of
old-school "scientific" racism.)

All say, "How hard it is that we have to die"---a strange complaint to
come from the mouths of people who have had to live.

"Experience" is the ability to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
