That's great.  I don't even see any motivation for it--unless the
writer had a particular analysis in mind, "b-line" strikes me as
pretty opaque, although presumably for him/her no more so than
"bee-line".  Now if you want motivation, there's:


"If you're fond of ocean mammals, you should make a c-line for Point Reyes"

"If you like strong armed right fielders with good power, you should
set your time machine dial to the fifties or sixties and make a
K-line for Motown"

"All those wanting or wishing or desiring a copy of that book about
redundancy should make a q-line at this counter"
