itch your way

Just saw this one on a web forum for runners:

If you are confident, you can slowly itch your way to 21 km.

I don't know whether it really counts as an eggcorn, as "itch your
way" doesn't make as much sense as "inch your way" even in modern
terms; if the user had no verb "inch" in his vocabulary, then "itch"
would seem the closest option, I suppose.
