A day late (re Cartoon Network's Boston "prank")

This morning's radio news brought an interview with an associate dean
at the Boston University School of Communication, who said of Turner
Network's response to the disturbances caused by the placing of
devices containing batteries, wiring, and circuit boards at sites
such as on support beams for the Central Artery and under bridges
across the Charles River that "it was a day late". As of late
yesterday evening Turner had not yet promised compensation for
expenses incurred by the three cities that were forced to act
(Boston, Cambridge, Somerville). (Nor does Turner's full-page
advertisement in today's Boston Globe mention money.)

The associate dean thereby missed an opportunity to say "a day late
and a dollar short".
