"Murphy's Law" Article

As the third installment of my now-regular column on quotations in the
Yale Alumni Magazine, the July/August 2007 issue has an article by me
about the origins of "Murphy's Law":

The space restriction (I only am allowed one page of the magazine) forced
me to severely cut down what I wanted to write and to leave out a lot of
rich material.  I'd love to publish a more extensive article somewhere
else.  In this version I did manage to give credit to Bill Mullins for his
crucial magic-journal discoveries, and also to give credit to Barry Popik
for his work on "Murphy's Law."
