>From James M. Guthrie's "Sesquicentennial Scrapbook" column, *National Road
Traveler* [Cambridge City, Indiana], 30 June 1966, Pg. 3;
newspaperarchive.com.

-------------------

[Guthrie describes a record album of Hoosier folklore and history.]

If you like "The Old Swimmin' Hole," "Raggedy Man" and "When the Frost is on
the Pumpkin" you'll like this one. And J.W. Riley is only a small
contributor. (But Riley would have loved the whole nine yards).

-------------------

Mr. Guthrie, whose principal profession was loan officer at a bank in
Bedford, Indiana, wrote several books about the history of that state and
served as Director of the Indiana Sesquicentennial Commission.

Somewhat puzzled by this seemingly random, early appearance, I contacted our
own Sam Clements, who managed to find an obituary for Mr. Guthrie
(1916-1997). Guthrie's death notice reflects a longtime interest in
aviation, including memberships in the Bedford Aero Club of 1930s and the
OX-5 Aviation Pioneers, and service in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
