The IPA symbols used by OED say "YAH-hoo." Mine say "YAY-hoo."

My outdated OED2 offers (jA;"hu;) -- which I translate as
"yah-HOO" (A; as in barn; u; as in boon). Is that the same as Jon's [jhu] ?
