The rushing groves?

 From another list:

>The new twenty-pound banknote featuring a portrait of Adam Smith,
>which was issued by the Bank of England on 13 March, is now
>available from the High Street banks, and people are rushing out in
>groves to obtain one. It's the first time a Scot has been portrayed
>on a Bank of England banknote.

A lovely image, appropriate to a Scot: The groves rushing out, like
Birnam Wood!

Is "groves" here simply an error for "droves"? (And just a mental or
digital lapse; I know the writer.) Or is there some other process involved?
