Boston Dialects

Hi everyone.  I have a student who's doing a research paper on the Boston
dialect.  He's having trouble finding sources and I looked as well, but our
library is a bit lacking.

So I was wondering:  could someone point us to either a scholar in that
field or a really good source or two that would be a good starting point?
Or is that too narrow of a topic for a paper?  Would he be better to broaden
it to New England dialects?

Not trying to get anyone to do the research for him, just seeing if we can
get a handle on a starting point, a name or two perhaps.  Thanks.
