Patti,
Personally, I'm not bothered by these emails at all--I welcome them;
and I'd dance on the table in a pink tutu if it would help students out.
 I was just getting you ready for a replay of that ridiculous exchange
that we had a few weeks ago.
I don't know anything about Boston dialects, but for New England speech
of days gone by, check out Anders Orbeck _Early New England
Pronunciation_  and Hans Kurath _Linguistic Atlas of New England_  and
its spinoff publications.
