might just be a typo.  or a straightforward spelling error.  (it
would be helpful to know how the writers pronounce the word.)  not in
brians, garner, or MWDEU.

but there are a fair number of hits for "humane
consumption" (excluding "humane consumption" 'consumption done in a
humane manner')
