Another newspaper archive

[Michael Quinion]

The Guardian (and its sister Sunday paper, the Observer) have been making
a great fuss these past few days about the digitisation of the complete
run of the former and (so far) partial digitisation of the latter. The Web
site is http://www.guardian.co.uk/archive, which is currently offering a
free 24-hour pass. I was delighted to hear about it, as there are too few
searchable runs of British newspapers available. If anyone tries it, I'd
be interested (off-list) to hear comments on its potential usefulness.
