It was just a joke, therefore perhaps based on a playful mispronunciation rather than anybody's actual pronunciation, but it circulated widely in Texas in the late 1960s: A sorority had a beer party on the beach, and the girls got sand in their slits. (I'm pretty sure the punchline normally said "slits," not "Schlitz.")
