Indeed there was! (And quite good burgers they were, too!)
At the same time, there was in the same area a chain called Frisch's Big
Boy. Both predated by a good few years the arrival of McDonald's -- which,
if memory serves, was given a slightly less enthusiastic welcome than the
surprisingly-popular Crispy Crème donuts receives in newly-entered markets.
