A usage I've noticed recently in hockey talk and play-by-play is that a
player with what used to be called "good ice vision" (the hockey
equivalent of good court vision in basketball) or anticipation is now
described as being good at "thinking hockey". I notice that, this
season, CBC has started a feature called "Think Hockey" as part of the
Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts
(http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hnic/thinkhockey/ embedded video plays
automatically), but whether this usage reflects a prior locution that I
hadn't previously noticed or whether it's played a role in spreading an
innovation (or both), I don't know.
