Major Antedating of "WASP"

Barry Popik has previously pushed the earliest known usage of _WASP_  back to May 1957.  Here is a significantly earlier occurrence in ProQuest's Black American Newspapers:

1948 _New York Amsterdam News_  17 Apr. 1  In America, we find the WASPs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants)  ganging up to take their frustrations out on whatever minority group happens to be handy -- whether Negro, Catholic, Jewish, Japanese, or what not.
