p.302 f, here p.326 quoting the Ford County Globe, September 5, 1879, can be
relied upon (I guess yes):
[headline:] A Day of Carnival
....last Friday in Dodge City.... extricating ourselves from that stupid
lethargy which had fallen upon us of late, and were giving vent to our
uncurbed
hilarity--"getting to the booze joint," as it were, in good shape, and
"making a
ranikaboo play for ourselves." We speak in the plural number....
