I or someone else may have already metioned that Google and Google Books occasionally exhibit the same problem.

I don't have access to Newspaper Archive, but I find that neither the Proquest Historical Newspapers or the Readex America's Historical Newspapers are reliable, in that both too frequently fail to find item that are in fact in their files. Frequently, I have had a story that has interested me, and I have searched for some distinctive word or some name in it, and whatever results I get do not include the story I started from.
